The project concerns a modern, intelligent and integrated system which, on a 24-hour basis, monitors and detects the existence of fire incidents in a selected area of high importance and in particular for Hymettus in the wider area of the Hunting Club of Kropias, which is the scope of the project. It utilizes spatial and non-spatial data recorded in it, in combination with intelligent techniques and algorithms, processes them and provides its users with a range of information useful for the cooperative response to emergency incidents, the better coordination of stakeholders both before and after the occurrence of a natural disaster as well as the continuous and timely information of citizens.

Subsequently, the system informs in real time the operations center of SPAY, which directs the information to the local Fire Service, which is in charge of the firefighting task, as well as to the office of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection.

The system consists of the following main components:

• Fire detection sensors
• Data acquisition stations
• Fire Prevention and Management Software

The system achieves the following:

1. Ensures the operational upgrading of SPAY in terms of supporting forest firefighting and forest protection agencies, through the use of ICT and in particular Geographic Information Systems and their applications.
2. Promotes and enhances the coordination of all stakeholders through the support of open interoperability standards.
