Environmental and quantitative data monitoring system

The Municipality of Alexandroupolis has installed a complete system of telematic monitoring of environmental quality and quantity parameters related to the microclimate of the intervention area. At the same time, a specialized application was developed for the collection of useful information on the visitability of cultural sites within the geographical boundaries of the Municipality (visitor analytics), such as frequency of visits, number of visitors by hour / day / month, gathering places of citizens, etc.

The results of the analysis are presented with the help of color charts and statistical charts.

For the visitor, the Municipality has implemented the e-VXD application which provides multimedia content and audio tour in 35 points of tourist interest.

All applications have been completed in a Central Smart City Platform, which integrates all subsystems:

• Gathering the audience
• Cultural content management
• Appointment management in public services

For the communication of the Municipality with the citizens, the electronic appointment service has been integrated in the platform so that the Citizen has an information point about the conditions in the city but also his service.

With the help of an internet platform, it is possible to collect, organize and process the data of field sensor measurements which are then displayed on a dashboard, as well as on a map of the area with the help of historical measurements, statistical graphs (bar-charts, area -charts, pie-charts). The data is accessible to all stakeholders (citizens, environmental organizations, municipal authorities, educational institutions, etc.), while emergency announcements are produced in case of harmful to public health phenomena such as pollution, high temperatures, etc.

Electric vehicle charging system

Within the project “Green urban areas – Better place to live”, the Municipality of Alexandroupolis proceeded to the installation of a charging station for electric vehicles with the aim of preserving and protecting the environment and promoting the efficiency of resources.

The owner of the electric car for charging, parks his car in a suitable position and with the RFID card which he shows to the Electric Charger, he fills in his details.

On the charger screen you can see all the information related to charging such as remaining battery level, current charging, remaining time for full charge and other useful information.

The charging process starts and continues depending on the car and its socket.
