The Municipality of Nafpaktia has been equipped with a series of smart applications and sensors, which aim to utilize the Open Shopping Centre, to stimulate the economic activity that is developing in the commercial area of the city, to modernize the centre and to continuously upgrade the Municipality with the use of new technological means that will improve the management and functionality of the urban environment, mobility, but also the daily life of citizens and visitors.

Intelligent controlled parking system

Through the system, the number of free on-street parking spaces in the area is made available in real time, while the project involves the development of an integrated parking system to enable real-time multi-channel information to drivers on parking availability.

Intelligent traffic management system/ Smart pedestrian crossing

The Smart Pedestrian Crossing System operating at the Municipality’s Open Shopping Centre is an innovative system for safe pedestrian crossing in the intervention area, which through automatic pedestrian presence detection, highlights the waiting and crossing points of pedestrians with LED lighting, but mainly enhances the timely perception of pedestrians by drivers, thus enhancing road safety.

Wireless internet access (Free WiFi)

As part of the redevelopment of the city’s commercial center and its transformation into an “Open Shopping Center”, twenty-seven (27) wireless access points were installed, among others.

System for the remote management of public infrastructure and networks in the intervention area

The implementation of smart city and sustainable mobility systems in the Open Shopping Centre facilitates consumer access while enhancing their visit experience. The interoperability of the smart city and sustainable mobility systems, as well as the diverse use of the wealth of data generated, is ensured by the installation and use of the smart city platform.

Smart Public Information System

Digital LED technology screens were installed within the Open Shopping Centre to display information, advertising and entertainment content messages to targeted audiences and to inform the visitors of the centre through multimedia content about the intervention area and its directions.

Smart urban equipment/Smart Benches

The smart bench, beyond its obvious use for resting visitors, offers a range of smart and innovative services, harmonised with the concept of environmental friendliness.
