The Municipality of Egaleo has created a specialized platform that will enhance public governance, through the capture of the real needs of society, the creation of additional value through the exploitation of digital infrastructure and the promotion of its cultural heritage.

The project aims to develop the appropriate tools and interfaces through the exploitation of which the citizens and businesses of the municipality will be better and more comprehensively served, setting measurable and realistic goals, gradually developing a strong ecosystem of innovation in the fields of information and communication.

In the unified digital platform, the existing “islands” of applications of the Municipality of Egaleo will be integrated and new ones will be developed to monitor the current state of the city. The platform will be an integrated coordination and orchestration centre for the smart city of Egaleo. In this context, all discrete sources of information and data will be integrated into a single point of control, where appropriately trained personnel with authorized access will be able to control and configure this information.

The smart city applications in the Municipality of Egaleo aim at positioning the area as a “new” destination for recreation and culture by exploiting the experiential experiences of citizens and visitors as well as enhancing the communication between the Municipality and citizens/visitors and upgrading the organization and use of human and material resources of the Municipality by citizens, employees and visitors.

Indicatively, the “smart” subsystems included in the smart city solution of the Municipality of Egaleo that can be used by the respective Directorates / Services of the Municipality and will provide the first level of smart applications that the Municipality will have available to citizens and businesses, offering important policy-making and local government issues, with the aim of digital transformation of the Municipality of Egaleo, are described below:

L1: Smart Governance Subsystem (consultations, requests, digital certificates, repository of municipal studies)
L2: Recreation and culture management subsystem (virtual tour, digital museum, voluntary actions, library, games, digital visitors’ book).
L3: Subsystem “Electronic Guide” of the City of Egaleo (electronic guide, recreation and walks, geospatial information)
L4: Business Intelligence (BI) Subsystem,
L5: Interface subsystem and other user applications (chatbot, mobile app)
