Urban mobility support platform for the Municipality of Trikala
The SMARTA 2 platform (Sustainable shared mobility interconnected with public transport in European rural areas), was developed for the Development Company of the Municipality of Trikala – Local Development Company – “e-Trikala SA”.
The online platform provides the following functions:
- real-time information about the estimated time of arrival of a city bus at a specific stop. The information already exists in the existing system of intelligent transport of city buses and is reflected in specific signs at bus stops in the city of Trikala.
- creating an application for carsharing and carpooling and information on the available options on a case-by-case basis. They are basically used by / to neighboring settlements / villages in relation to the city of Trikala, and its development allows its expansion to new destinations.
- an on-demand service that allows you to send a request for booking a bus or taxi. In this way the urban transport provider knows in advance the real need for specific routes. In addition to the online version, the service is supported through an infopoint call center, which is located in the central square of the city of Trikala and is already staffed with appropriate staff.
- an online booking application for the existing services which are already offered by the Municipality of Trikala through the Info Point in the Central Square object storage key), and the ability to expand to new services.
Smart Pedestrian Crossing
It has been observed that many fatal accidents occur between vehicles and pedestrians on illuminated and unsafe pedestrian crossings. The Bercman AS intelligent pedestrian system provides a range of tools to warn the approaching pedestrian and draw his attention in a way that does not surprise him.
The smart pedestrian system SPC-S® that was installed in the Municipality of Trikala consists of:
- Pedestrian Detection Sensor passing through the crosswalk.
- Self-illuminated signpost LED technology, on a mast, the brightness of which fluctuates depending on the ambient light.
- Mast warning lights on a mast, which are activated only when a pedestrian crossing the pedestrian is detected.
- Interface with LED street lighting and fluctuation of lighting intensity when passing the pedestrian crossing
The system can be upgraded to SPS-M® by adding:
- Microwave sensor (radar) for the detection of vehicles approaching the passage and collection of traffic data throughout the day.
- Environmental measurement sensors (Temperature, Humidity, Atmospheric Pressure, CO, NO, PM1, PM2.5, PM10 etc).
Consequently, the Municipality has the possibility to create, not just a safe passage, but also a station for receiving traffic and environmental data for all uses.
