Smart City Central Platform

The Municipality of Zakynthos, in the context of the creation and utilization of Open Shopping Centers, procured a central platform for data integration and visualization, to manage the smart city and sustainable urban mobility systems from a single platform.

The Smart City Platform is an open, cloud-based platform that enables the interconnection and communication of individual smart city solutions and applications. The Platform is based on open-source software and leverages the advantages of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies by interconnecting citizens, processes, data and objects in order to achieve monitoring of all factors that affect the life of the city.

The software has the character of a platform for the interconnection of software, sensors, functions and equipment of a “smart city” and is offered as a Cloud application.

The Platform also supports the following solutions:

• Dynamic parking management (Smart Parking)
• Remote control of street lighting (Remote Smart Street Lighting Control)
• Wireless Internet access (Remote control of the public Wi-Fi network and provision of analytics services from the use of the Wi-Fi network)
• Collection and management of environmental data from sensors,
• Use of video analytics applications,
• Locating and monitoring the position of objects (e.g. bins) and vehicles (waste collection and management)
• Intelligent traffic monitoring
• Public safety and security
• Environmental data monitoring
• Intelligent energy monitoring
• Smart management of citizen information systems
• Monitoring of electric car chargers
• Intelligent monitoring of bin capacity

The software can interoperate with any type of sensor to be used in the smart city project for urban services regardless of the interface technology used (such as LoRA, ZigBee, GPRS, WiFi, NBIOT, IP camera, etc.).
