Deskati's Smart City Platform
The objective of the project is the installation of a service platform for the Municipality’s citizens and businesses, aiming to provide integrated electronic services, which make use of a workflow management system and electronic signatures with interoperability with the existing applications of the Municipality, which cover both the back office and the electronic distribution of documents.
In addition, through the project, a wireless broadband access network was installed and extended to fifteen locations (squares and villages) with the installation of thirty (30) access points.
At the same time, the project includes the use of new technologies for monitoring and managing electricity consumption in public buildings using appropriate sensors in the panels enhancing their energy upgrade but at the same time the use of a system for monitoring and managing electricity bills for all the Municipality’s utilities to avoid electricity theft.
Finally, the City has proceeded with the installation of twenty-five (25) sensors for metering and remote management of electricity consumption in public buildings to reduce unnecessary electricity consumption. The monitoring and management is done using a web-based platform used by the relevant departments with remote controls (on/off), statistical reports and real-time information on electricity costs.
The aim of the project is to highlight and promote the digital transition and create a better-connected society. By enhancing access to digital services, this project promotes the welfare and development of the contracting authority. Through the creation of an integrated service platform, the aim is to improve the citizen’s experience and strengthen public administration by offering efficient and accessible services that meet the modern needs and demands of the population.
The expected benefits of the project for the Municipality of Deskati and its residents are broad and multi-level. By creating an interactive service platform, citizens will have more direct and easy access to various public services and information, enhancing transparency and serving their needs. In addition, the installation of broadband wireless network and the use of new technologies for energy management are expected to contribute to reducing the cost of living and improving the environment, creating a more sustainable and innovative environment for the residents and businesses in the area.
